Description

The scope of this effort encompasses the evaluation, selection, configuration, and initial implementation of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to support the NIH Standardized Organoid Modeling (SOM) Initiative. The selected subcontractor will deliver a scalable, extensible platform capable of supporting integrated laboratory workflows, including protocol development, assay management, automation integration, and AI/ML-enabled analytics. This includes system architecture design, configuration of core data models, integration with laboratory instrumentation, and implementation of secure, compliant data management practices aligned with federal standards.
The LIMS must support key SOM functional priorities, including standardized protocol execution, high-throughput experimental workflows, and comprehensive biological sample tracking with associated metadata. The system must also enable efficient, programmatic access to data through well-defined APIs and standardized formats, allowing seamless extraction and integration into downstream AI/ML pipelines. This capability is critical to support SOM’s AI/ML-driven optimization and decision support functions, ensuring that experimental data can be readily ingested with minimal transformation and latency. The subcontractor will collaborate with NIH stakeholders to ensure interoperability with related systems and alignment with the broader SOM framework, with initial implementation focused on core capabilities and future scalability.
