National Cryo-EM Facility Acknowledged User Publications

Cryo-EM can be used to view, in atomic detail, the binding of a potential small-molecule drug to a key protein in cancer cells. This cryo-EM image helped researchers establish the sequence of structural changes that normally occur in a protein, p97. Protein p97, an important target for cancer therapies, is trapped in an inactive state by a new inhibitor. With the inhibitor (red) in place, the molecule cannot proceed into its normal reaction cycle, illustrated schematically along the circular gauge.The National Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility (NCEF), which began operation in May 2017, provides cancer researchers access to the latest cryo-EM technology for high resolution imaging. Publications that report macromolecular structures obtained using data collected at NCEF are listed below.
