Strain Description: These mice carry a latent point-mutant allele of Kras2 (K-rasG12D). Cre-mediated recombination leads to deletion of a transcriptional termination sequence (Lox-Stop-Lox) and expression of the oncogenic protein.
Intranasal infection with an adenovirus encoding Cre resulted in a very high frequency of lung tumors. Homozygotes die in utero.

Cryopreservation Mating Scheme: EMBRYOS: The cryopreservation mating scheme is C57BL/6 females x heterozygous males. SPERM: Sperm was obtained from heterozygous males. When maintained as a live colony, breeder pairs were distributed as a heterozygote (male or female) x wildtype C57BL/6 (male or female). This Kras allele is non-functional in its germline configuration; therefore the mice are maintained by backcrossing heterozygous animals to C57BL/6. Average litter size is 9.
