Overview

The Retroviral Protein Chemistry Core provides preparative and analytic protein chemistry expertise for the characterization of retroviral virions and related samples. The core uses techniques that enable analyses with much smaller amounts of virus than was previously possible.

Focus

Analytical support for studies on the inactivation of retroviruses

  • Works with other researchers to analyze inactivation mechanisms.
  • Performs chemical confirmation of relevant modifications by different inactivation approaches.
  • Analytical techniques:
    • Gel analysis
    • Immunoblots
    • Protein microsequencing
    • Amino acid analysis
    • Mass spectrometry
