Protein Science

Overview

Purified recombinant proteins are an essential resource for scientists in any stage of research. High-quality proteins ensure that downstream science produces accurate and reproducible results. This is particularly critical for protein reagents used in drug discovery and structural biology. The use of standardized methods for protein production, coupled with multiple processes to ensure quality control of protein reagents, is essential for high-quality research. In addition, careful attention to detail in the reporting of protein production methods in journal articles, posters, and patents is essential to enable accurate reproducibility of experiments by other researchers.

Standard operating procedures

Scientists in the Protein Expression Laboratory and the NCI RAS Initiative have created standard operating procedures and reference materials for the protein production process. You can access and download these PDFs below.
