The Center for Innovation and Strategic Partnerships houses the Partnership Development Office and the Intellectual Property and Strategic Agreements office, and fosters purposeful innovation across the Frederick National Laboratory with the goal of bringing our expertise, capabilities, and technologies to the external research community.

It has four key pillars:

  • Partnership development and student training.

  • Technology development and transfer.

  • Intellectual property management and portfolio management.

  • Outreach and events.

Through these pillars, the center seeks to strengthen the laboratory’s role as a national and global resource for biomedical research.

Partnership spotlights

  • In February 2023, we signed a McCRADA with Hospital Moinhos de Vento, a Brazilian hospital, to support work around virus-like particles, including virus-like particles for HPV-16 and HPV-18. This partnership is being led by Dr. Ligia Pinto of the Vaccine, Immunity, and Cancer Directorate.

  • In January 2023, we executed a MOU with Stillman College, a private historically black Presbyterian college in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. We are excited to have this new collaboration to support student training efforts.
