By bringing together a wide range of companies, entrepreneurs, investors, academics, and regional economic development groups, this event helps foster the regional biotech community. To date, 31 Maryland organizations have presented at or had booths at the event.

In fact, the Technology Showcase is the only National Institutes of Health event where industry potential partners are the primary audience, making it a critical tool for moving cancer inventions down the path toward commercialization. Its important role in technology transfer and the regional community has been recognized with a 2021 Federal Laboratory Consortium State and Local Development Award and 2020 NCI Director’s Award.

Connections at the event have led to licensing with the National Cancer Institute Technology Transfer Center and a contractor Collaborative Research and Development Agreement (cCRADA) with Frederick National Laboratory around a potential pancreatic cancer therapy.
