Dr. Uma Mudunuri has more than 20 years of experience in science with expertise in bioinformatics, data science and software development.
Her main interests are in translational science and large-scale biomedical data integration. She joined Advanced Biomedical Computational Science in November 2006 as an analyst providing bioinformatics analysis and research application support for USAMRIID and the National Cancer Institute. Over the years she led and supported multiple bioinformatics, biomedical infrastructure, data management and integration applications for the NCI, NIAID, NCATS and US Army, and is the lead on resources such as bioDBnet - a network of biological databases, AVIA for variant impact analysis, SysBioCube - a data and analysis collaboration suite for the US Army, CSSI-DCC for flexible data sharing and RARe-SOURCE - an integrated bioinformatics resource for rare diseases.
Mudunuri graduated with a bachelor’s degree in genetics, microbiology, and chemistry, two master’s degrees – one in biotechnology and a second in bioinformatics from UPenn. She obtained her Ph.D. in bioinformatics and computational biology from GMU.
