John Freymann leads the Cancer Imaging Informatics Laboratory, a Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research support service to the Cancer Imaging Program. He supported the Cancer Imaging Program’s informatics agenda since 2002, helping develop and implement its public service for sharing cancer imaging data, along with associated services for the cancer imaging research community. He led the design and development on the National Biomedical Imaging Archive, an open-source PACS server, and on The Cancer Imaging Archive, an imaging sharing service. He is the project manager for The Cancer Imaging Archive and helped coordinate multiple multi-institutional research projects that have contributed to and leveraged the imaging data that it contains.

Before coming to Frederick National Laboratory, Freymann worked at an international development firm, creating and delivering integrative policy models for development and helping governmental and nongovernmental agencies make plans in the areas of reproductive health, population and family planning, maternal and child health, and the environment.
