Charles “Mac” Trubey received his B.S. in 1995 from the University of Maryland and his M.S. degree in 2002 from Hood College. In 1993, he began his research career at the University of Maryland Cancer Center, under Dr. Nicholas Bachur, studying DNA-intercalating chemotherapy agents for lung and other cancers. In 1996, Mr. Trubey began working at the rederick National Laboratory in Dr. Gene Shearer’s Translational HIV Research Support Laboratory (a satellite lab for the NCI-EIB), performing cellular immune monitoring for collaborative HIV/AIDS clinical trial research studies and moved to the Retroviral Pathogenesis Section of the AIDS and Cancer Virus Program in 2002 under Dr. Jeff Lifson. With over 25 years of flow cytometry and cellular immunology experience, Trubey has served as the head of the Cellular Immunity Core since its establishment in 2009.
