Brian Smith is the Financial Operations Director at the Frederick National Laboratory. He oversees all aspects of the financial operations including accounting, finance, policies, and compliance. Smith has over 20 years of experience in the government contracting industry.
Prior to joining Frederick National Laboratory, Smith spent 10 years in various management roles at Leidos, Inc. including corporate accounting, financial management for Leidos’ Veteran Affairs division overseeing a large team of project controllers, and FP&A for Military and Veterans Affairs Operation responsible for coordination and reporting of the financial forecast. Before Leidos, Smith served as a consultant concentrating on financial process and policy improvements and corporate development initiatives for mergers and acquisitions. Smith began his career as an external auditor for Ernst and Young where he had numerous clients within the government contracting industry, as well as biotechnology industry.
Smith is a Certified Public Accountant. He graduated from the College of William and Mary with an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Master of Accounting degree. He continues to serve on the Accounting Advisory Board for the College of William and Mary Business School. Smith also earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Kenan-Flagler Business School.
