The Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research campus is located 50 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., and 50 miles west of Baltimore, Maryland, in Frederick, Maryland. Operations and Technical Support contractor Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. has employees, as well as offices and operations via subcontract, across the United States and around the world.

Advanced Technology Research Facility (ATRF)

The ATRF houses the administrative headquarters of the Frederick National Laboratory with additional laboratories and offices. The ATRF is home to the Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory and many other laboratories and services available to outside researchers.

Campus adjacent to Fort Detrick

The Frederick National Laboratory has offices and laboratories colocated on the National Cancer Institute Campus at Frederick, adjacent to the military base at Fort Detrick. Frederick National Laboratory scientists collaborate with government, university, and corporate scientists to speed the translation of laboratory research into new diagnostic tests and treatments for cancer, AIDS, and other infectious diseases.

Pilot Plant

The Pilot Plant, operated by the Frederick National Laboratory for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, produces clinical-stage vaccine candidates for infectious diseases of global significance. The facililty is engaged in multiple programs including HIV/AIDS broadly neutralizing antibodies, influenza nanoparticles, malaria and tuberculosis vaccine development, as well as emerging and re-emerging diseases like Zika.

Clinical Monitoring Research Program

The primary mission of the Clinical Monitoring Research Program (CMRP) is to provide comprehensive, dedicated clinical research support to major programs within NIH. CMRP operates human clinical trials for diseases and viruses such as cancer and AIDS, influenza, malaria, Zika, Ebola, chikungunya, parasitic diseases and a wide range of other emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.

Clinical Trials Support at the NIH

The Clinical Monitoring Research Program (CMRP) provides clinical trials support at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) main campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The Clinical Research Directorate (CRD), Laboratory Animal Sciences Program (LASP), and other programs have offices at this location.
