The Frederick National Lab has a deep and abiding commitment to its home community of Frederick, Maryland. The city and surrounding region is where national lab employees live, work and play. It’s where our children — who represent our future workforce — go to school.

This is where we walk the streets and greet our friends. It's where we join with community leaders and nonprofit organizations to address the challenges of a growing region and to preserve its charm. Frederick is becoming a nationally recognized destination community. We are fortunate to already be a part of it.

Frederick National Lab's prime contractor is the fifth largest employer in Frederick County, behind the military, public schools, hospital system, and county government.

Our employees serve on local boards and volunteer with local nonprofit organizations. Our employees give hands-on science lessons to grade-school children, participate in STEM education programs at middle and high schools, and lecture to college students at nearby higher education institutions.

Our employees help feed the poor and shelter the homeless. They walk, bike, and run to support fundraisers for nonprofit organizations throughout the region. They drive cancer patients to treatment centers for needed radiation and chemotherapy.

Our annual employee-giving-and-matching-donation campaign raises more than $200,000 to benefit local, regional, and national nonprofit organizations.
